Saraki”s lawyer gives evidence against him

The ongoing trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, took a dramatic twist on Thursday as Saraki’s counsel, Paul Usoro shocked the Tribunal with startling details of various transfer of funds by the Senate President to his foreign account when he was a governor.
Usoro made the revelation after the prosecution witness, Michael Wetkas declined to read the various transfers of Saraki from his Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) account to his American Express Service, New York account, pointing out the various transfers as contained in the documents tendered before the tribunal, saying the transfers were a lot and giving details may take the whole day.
Following Wetkas response, Usoro started reading out the transfers with the witness acknowledging same.
According to Usoro, Saraki carried out the transfers from his GTB account to his American Express Bank, New York account.Wetkas, however, agreed to the figures, noting that the commission stumbled on these during its investigation.
